Safe Zone and Hoops

The Winter Break Camp will give us exposure to a large number of possible participants, and allow us to evaluate them to see if they would be a good fit for one of the DRIVE Milwaukee Programs

Focus Areas
  • This event is to introduce players to detailed fundamentals of the game such as pivoting, passing, dribbling and shooting
  • Correct form of fundamental basketball movements such as running, 1-foot and 2-foot jumping, first step explosiveness and lateral movement.

Participants
  • Goal of 48 boys (December 30) and 48 girls (December 31) in grades 5-8 through collaboration with community organizations like Boys and Girls Club and Milwaukee Running Rebels.
Schedule – December 30-31, 2013
  • 9AM-4PM
  • 9AM-9:55AM: Enrichment Activity/Workshop (SUCCESS for Teens)
  • 10AM-12PM: Basketball skill development and performance training
  • 12PM-1PM: Lunch and Inspirational film or game film breakdown
  • 1PM-1:55PM: Motivational speaker
  • 2PM-4PM: Basketball skill development and performance training
